Listening/Healing Prayer in 2011
Following the re-ordering of the baptistery and a series on different aspects of listening a commissioning service was held for the team, two of whom would make themselves available each Sunday to listen/pray confidentially to anyone who felt in need, either for themselves or for someone else. It was agreed that the two people would meet five minutes before the service and sit in the prayer room (the former baptistery) during Communion, having first taken Communion themselves.
This replaced the monthly laying-on of hands but in fact meant that this would be available every week.
All those involved are keen for St.Mary’s to become a praying church and a listening church. They all take a prayer list which is compiled monthly and undertake to pray for these people on a regular basis. Sometimes all we have is a Christian name which is fine.
As with all new initiatives it takes time for the general congregation to be aware and understand what is happening so please feel free to ask any questions of the Revd Alison Brown or Margaret Johnson.
Thanks to all who have helped and remember we all need prayer.
