St Mary's Parents and Toddlers Group
This group was begun in 1993 in response to a perceived need for a comfortable, friendly environment where local parents (especially new ones) could meet and make new friends. The session is held every Tuesday morning during school term times between 10am and 12 noon in St. Andrews Room. It is run by Ruth Blaine with the assistance of Lesley Templeman. The emphasis is on informality, with a good selection of toys and equipment for the children, and refreshments for everybody. The charge is 50p, and an average of 12 - 20 people turn up each week. Despite the name, the group is not limited to mothers and indeed over the years has welcomed dads, aunties, grandparents, childminders and big sisters, to name a few. New faces are always welcome - just turn up.
